Trade Ideas for 01/19/10

The markets played against type, rolling over on expiration Friday, potentially throwing a wrench into option players' strategies. So far in the past couple of months, we haven't seen follow-through on the downside, and indeed the market bounced off support at the 1130 level. In terms of the price pattern, there's room for another higher high, but the market would need to regroup/chop/consolidate for a little bit (just not fall with any urgency). But, should the market follow through to the downside Tuesday (into the 1110-1120 range), we can forget about that higher high.

We sold CPST and GE for profits Friday and bought EEV. Monday the market is closed.

EEV 10.51 10.58 +0.7% 10.25 N/A Chart
SVA 7.51 7.28 -3.1% 7.09 N/A Chart
ESI 101.97 99.96 -1.0% 99.33 N/A Chart

Even if the market should give up a few more points, the bulls ought to find a way to keep prices afloat. If not, look out below.
