Trade Ideas for 01/21/10

Volatile couple of days, as today's action reversed yesterday's in short order. It has quickly changed to a choppy and dangerous market after trending nicely into the end of last week. We bought MZZ.

Looks like we may get killed on SVA. Public offerings (for whatever reason) usually cause major drops as last night's release has.

Overall, the news is good. They have a huge contract to provide tons of vaccine to the Chinese Gov.

The problem is they have to expand now and raise capital to do it.

I stopped looking at the news long back. Price movements do not correlate with the news especially with some stocks as they get too volatile.

I ignore the news, too, but if you are a day trader, news is your friend. As for SVA, secondary offerings, upgrades, and downgrades are risks that are difficult to guard against, unless you know the company has a track record with respect to these. CEF is on my no-trade list for this reason.
